2 June – ‘Africa’s Future, Africa’s Challenge’ Book Launch, London
Africa's Future, Africa's Challenge: Early Childhood Care and Development in Sub-Saharan Africa Book launch and discussion with Dr Marito Garcia at 11:45. ODI, 111 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7JD. Investing in early childhood - the best financial returns of all? Do policy makers understand the arguments? Dr Marito Garcia, lead economist for Africa in the Human Development Group of the World Bank, has brought together the arguments - amplified by case studies - for supporting early childhood initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa. He introduces his new book on this topic. Dr Hasina Ebrahim, and Professor Helen Penn, both familiar with early childhood provision in sub Saharan Africa, discuss the importance of the perspectives put forward in the book, but also ask who provides the early childhood education and who gets to use it? 4 June – ‘Nigeria - a country on the rise’, LCCI, London

10-12 June - "Understanding Labor Market Dynamics in Africa", Accra, Ghana
Compensation and human resources professionals are invited to attend the event focused on managing HR issues in Africa. 14 June – Patti Boulaye’s Motown Rock, Surrey
After working for the last 6 years on her charity Support for Africa that has successfully raised funds to build four clinics in Africa, International singer Patti Boulaye has just announced a new high energy show. ‘Motown Rock’ will see her joined on stage with top rock musicians ‘The Good Old Boys’. 16-17 June – Ai Nigeria Infrastructure Investor Summit, Abuja, Nigeria
The Ai Nigeria Infrastructure Investor Summit is a forum to facilitate project implementation and match project developers and sponsors with investors. 21-22 June - EPEX 2008, London

Out of Africa is back with a summer season of events. This summer, an Out of Africa marquee will be featuring at Carnival de Cuba on 28th and 29th June in Southwark Park and at Shoreditch Festival on 16th August in Shoreditch Park. For both events, we have put together a programme featuring a range of African drumming and dance classes alongside a vibrant market selling and promoting Arts & Crafts, food, fashion and accessories from this diverse and exuberant continent.
