Over the past 10 years, there has been a considerable and continuing shift in the narrative surrounding Africa; from hopeless continent to the continent of extraordinary growth. From Africa Rising to a more nuanced picture as the continent braces itself against the winds of global economic volatility, depressed commodity prices, geopolitical rivalries, uncertain internal trade alliances, and political turbulence within some of the continent’s key economies.
It has been an amazing decade, reflected in the stories and events we have covered, and as I explain in this month’s Editorial – 10 Years of Africa.
In this special issue of ReConnect Africa, I have picked 10 articles from the past 10 years which represent the range of topics and themes that have always been the focus of this publication. Topics that reflect the evolving story of Africa and its diaspora and which shine a light on the people – whether women, men, young or old - who are doing their part to build a stronger and more prosperous Africa.
